Fabio Patrizi is an Associate Professor in Engineering in Computer Science with the Department of Computer, Control and Management Engineering (DIAG) at Sapienza University of Rome.
His research activity concerns theoretical, methodological, and practical aspects in different areas of Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence, including Formal Methods, Knowledge Representation, Machine Learning, Reasoning about Action, various forms of Planning in Artificial Intelligence, Service-oriented Computing, Business Processes. In these areas, he has supervised 2 PhD students.
Fabio Patrizi regularly publishes the results of his research activity in top-level international journals and conferences. He has co-authored over 70 scientific papers published in international journals or proceedings of international conferences, and has been invited to present the results of his research at various institutions. He was also selected as a tutorialist at the prestigious International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence (IJCAI’15). He has been the (co-)recipient of a Best Paper Award and a Test-of-Time Award. He obtained the National Scientific Habilitation for Full Professorship for sector SC 09/H1 (now GSD 09/IINF-05).
Fabio Patrizi regularly serves as a PC or SPC member for various top-level conferences in the areas of his interest (AAAI, IJCAI, ICAPS, AAMAS, KR, ECAI), he has served as Area Chair for ICSOC 2023 (area: Artificial Intelligence for Services and as-a-Service), and as a reviewer or guest editor for several international journals. He is also an Editorial Board Member for the prestigious Artificial Intelligence Journal (AIJ). He has served as a moderator for the selection of papers submitted to the Artificial Intelligence section of the Computing Research Repository (
www.arxiv.org). He has been been involved in the organization of several national and international research events. In 2024, he was awarded the ICAPS 2024 Outstanding SPC Award for his service as an SPC member.
Since November 2020, Fabio Patrizi is the Coordinator of the Bachelor in Information Engineering (Presidente del Corso di Studio in Ingegneria dell’Informazione) at Sapienza University of Rome (Latina site).
Fabio Patrizi has been involved in several national and international research projects, both as participant and as a PI. He is currently the co-PI of Spoke 5 on High-Quality AI of the PNRR Project FAIR ”Future of Artificial Intelligence AI”; within the same project, he is PI of Work Package 5.1 ”Scientific, Methodological and Ethical Foundations for Verifiable Adjustable Autonomy” and of Transversal Project 4 on ”Adjustable Autonomy and Physical Embodied Intelligence”.
