Abstract:
Autonomous vehicles are the most mature manifestation of AI in the physical world today. Waymo is now serving well over 150K paid public rides every week, without a human driver, across some of the most complex urban environments in the U.S., including San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Phoenix. Getting there required pushing innovation boundaries across a number of fields, including ML computing, advanced sensing hardware, large-scale cloud infrastructure, realistic simulation, and evaluation frameworks. Annie will talk about how Waymo is solving some of these technical challenges, the company’s approach to safety, and how it’s gradually scaling the service to bring the benefits of full autonomy to more people across more places.
