He is associate professor at the Department of Computer Control and Management Engineering "Antonio Ruberti", University of Rome "La Sapienza" (SSD ING-INF/05). He received his PhD in 2007 with a thesis on "Techniques for Efficient Event Routing".
He is currently president of the Competence Center
CYBER 4.0 and Rector's delegate for cybersecurity.
His research interests are focussed on event-based computing systems, dependability and security of distributed systems and scalability of big data computing systems. Other research areas of his interest include : automatic code analysis techniques, protection of critical infrastructures against faults and attacks, quality of service for event based communication middleware, connectivity in dynamic systems, reliability of home automation systems, data diffusion in sensor and mobile ad hoc networks.
Leonardo Querzoni contributed with different roles to the activities of the EU projects AETNA, SM4All, SOFIA and CoMiFin. nd the italian TENACE PRIN project. Currently he is involved as unit leader in the project FilieraSicura supported by CISCO and Leonardo Company.
He has been general chair of OPODIS 2014 and co-chaired the program committee of DEBS 2019. Since 2020 he is member of the steering committeee of the ACM International Conference on Distributed and Event-Based Systems (DEBS).
He partecipates in the organization and program committees of the most prestigious intrnational conferences in the area of distributed systems like ICDCS, DSN, EDCC and DEBS. Moreover, he regularly serves as expert reviewer for top international journals (IEEE TPDS, ACM Surveys, IEEE TDSC, Elsevier JPDC).
