Carlo Meloni received a PhD in Operations Research in 2001 at the Sapienza University of Rome. Then he was Research Fellow in Operations Research at the Department of Computer Science and Automation (DIA) of the Roma Tre University. From 2002 to 2019 he was a researcher in Systems Science at the Polytechnic of Bari where he was associate professor of Operations Research from 2019 to 2021.
Since November 2021 he has been associate professor of Operations Research at the Sapienza University of Rome where he is with the Department of Computer, Control and Management Engineering "Antonio Ruberti" (DIAG).
In 2021 he obtained the National Scientific Qualification as full professor of Operations Research.

He is a member of the Academic Board of the PhD program ABRO of the Sapienza University.
Moreover he is a member of the Research Center for Transport and Logistics (CTL) of the Sapienza University, and participates to the "Sapienza Section" Research Unit of the National Inter-university Consortium for Energy and Electrical Systems (EnSiEL).
He has taken part in research projects promoted by the MUR, universities, research centers and companies.
Since 2018 he has been a member of the Board of Directors of the Italian Association of Operations Research (AIRO).
He is a member of INFORMS (The Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences), and he is active in various working groups of EURO (The Association of European Operational Research Societies). He is a member of IAROR (International Association of Railway Operations Research). He is a senior member of the IEEE where he adheres to the Technology and Engineering Management Society.

The scientific works of Carlo Meloni (ORCiD: 0000-0001-5641-2977) have been presented in various conferences and included in international publications listed and referred in  Google Scholar,  Scopus  and in the Catalog of research products IRIS-Sapienza.
